Dress Code @ Cisco

Hey there! I was reading through the comments on the blog and I thought I would address a few things... My name is Amber and I am the internship coordinator at Cisco, and you will be hearing a lot from me this summer!

Dress code at Cisco (pending your manager's discretion) is business casual. However, if you are interning in finance, marketing, or Sales, I would recommend wearing business attire. On your first day, I recommend dressing well to make a great first impression.

If you have any other questions about attire, comment on this blog and I will def follow-up with you!

Thanks,
Amber

Hi!

I have already accepted the offer, received the paperwork/W4/etc...
I am wondering what will happen next? The manager of the group will contact us, and he will orient us about our first day?

Cheers!

Hey Daniel,

Your recruiter will be in touch with you to let you know the manager of the group, etc.

On your first day, you will be given a laptop or desktop, and taken to get your badge at the badging station! Your manager will show you the ropes!

Thanks!
Amber

Regarding Dress Code @ Cisco,

What will be the dress code in RTP ?
Is there a difference between the two centers ?

I'm a bit curious about this since I've never worked at a place that had a business casual dress code.

I would think that slacks and a button down shirt would be acceptable but what about say slacks and a polo shirt?

From what I gather, companies tend to differ in what they would consider acceptable business casual dress.

Thanks,

Scott Crook

What is considered casual dress for women?

thanks

When I interned in San Jose, I would wear jeans and a polo shirt. I would imagine, for women, it would be similar - not so much skirts.

I think that you should probably wear your best on your first day, and then pay attention to your collegues' outfits and go from there. If you end up being too dressed up on your first day, who cares? it's your first day!

Hardik,

It is about the same as Cisco SJ. Maybe a tid bit more casual as it isn't the HQ. I used to work in RTP and I wore jeans almost everyday...

Thanks!
Amber

Hi Scott,

A polo and khakis is totally cool. Not sure which business unit you are in, so that might help me decide...

Finance and Sales are the most professionally dressed...

Thanks!

Hey Allison,

As for women, they mostly wear jeans, capris or professional skirts.

Like I said above, I wear jeans most of the time. I suppose in the summer I wear cotten knee-length skirts a lot! :-)

BUT to be safe, dress your best on your first day (I don't think a suit is necessary unless you are in Sales or Finance) and see what's up with the other people in your group!
